We have new information about a three-vehicle crash that happened on Manning Road, north of Baseline Road on Monday. We’ve learned a 64-year-old truck driver is now facing careless driving charges.
According to a report from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a van that was heading northbound on Manning Road stopped to make a turn when a tractor-trailer rear-ended it. The impact of the collision pinned the driver of a nearby car between the tractor-trailer and a minivan. Emergency crews and investigators were on the scene of the horrific accident for hours.
Meantime, a 30-year-old woman who was inside of the car sandwiched between the tractor-trailer and the minivan remains hospitalized and is reportedly improving. She is now listed in fair condition.
Injuries and Compensation
Minor injuries including whiplash, cuts, scrapes and bruises heal relatively easy. However, it may take years to forget the emotional and psychological trauma caused by a horrific accident.
Major injuries such as a brain injury, smashed and broken bones and back injuries may last a lifetime and require ongoing medical treatment and periods of recovery.
Aggressive Careless Driving
Careless driving acts include such things as:
- Speeding
- Switching between lanes recklessly
- Tailgating (Following a vehicle too closely)
- Failure to give way when required
- Failure to yield the right-of-way
- Passing another vehicle without looking
- Running a red light
