The Tecumseh Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Essex County OPP, Tecumseh Fire and Rescue, and Essex-Windsor EMS all responded to a call about a three-vehicle crash on Highway 401 last Friday, July 4, shortly before 10:45 a.m. Ornge air ambulance also responded, but was not required for transport of any victims. The crash occurred on the westbound lanes of the highway, between Puce and Manning Roads.
Charges Laid Against Brampton Driver
Windsor News Today reported that one of the drivers, a 22-year-old from Brampton, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and is due to appear in Ontario Court in Windsor to answer this charge on August 26.
Highway 401 Shut Down for Hours During Crash Scene Investigation
Highway 401, which has since been reopened, was shut down for hours to allow officers to investigate the scene, causing significant traffic back up.
Two Drivers Injured, One Seriously, and Taken to Hospital
One of the drivers involved had serious injuries and was transported to hospital. Another driver was also transported to hospital with injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening.
