A local man has been charged with drunk driving after three people were injured in a four-vehicle accident on County Road 42 near Concession Road 7 around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
According to police, the crash involved a minivan, full-size commercial van, pickup truck, and SUV crossover. No further information has been provided as to how the crash occurred, however, images from the scene show a crumpled black pickup truck, minivan with heavy damage to its side, and black SUV crossover with a ripped off roof.
Surprisingly, all injuries suffered were minor. A man in the pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle, but only suffered minor injuries.
According to one witness, the Jaws of Life were used to extricate the victims in the SUV.
Though police arrested one man for driving while intoxicated, it is not known which vehicle he was driving.
Police closed the road down until about 10 p.m. as the accident reconstruction team worked to determine what happened.
Preliminary data from 2013 reveals that drunk driving caused 25 percent of all motor vehicle fatalities in the province, which is more than speeding and distracted driving. The number of drunk driving fatalities between 2012 and 2013 have decreased, but many have still suffered as a result of a drunk driver.
