Windsor police are investigating two collisions that occurred within one hour Monday night in downtown Windsor. A skateboarder suffered life-threatening injuries in one and a pedestrian was injured in the other.
According to police, the first accident happened around 8:30 p.m. when a man on a skateboard was struck by a Ford SUV at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Ouellette Avenue.
The skateboarder is believed to have suffered critical, life-threatening injuries and was immediately rushed to the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital.
The intersection where the accident occurred was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene. Police reported that the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene of the accident and cooperated with investigators.
However, police are encouraging anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4111. Witnesses can also call Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 to report the incident anonymously.
Less than one hour after the initial collision, a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Ouellette Avenue and University Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Police reported that the woman’s injuries appeared to be minor.
