A four-year-old girl has been critically injured after being hit by a Transit Windsor bus on a busy stretch of Prince Road near Mic Mac Park.
According to reports, the incident took place shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, May 26th, when the little girl ran onto the roadway and was violently struck by the driver’s side bumper of the bus.
Windsor Police were on the scene investigating for several hours, while the child was rushed to a local hospital, where she has remained in critical condition.
A witness to the incident likened the particular stretch of road to a speedway, due to there being no stop signs or stop lights from Peter Street to Matchette Road. As residential neighborhoods can be found on one side of Mic Mac Park, local west-end residents are calling for a crosswalk to be installed on the roadway.
This is a developing story. If you have any further information or a witness account, Windsor Police can be reached at (519) 258-6111.
