Speeding, DUI Contribute to Separate Accidents

Speeding Motorcycle Accident

On Friday, the Windsor Police Service responded to a motorcycle accident involving a Ford Edge SUV that left one person seriously injured. The accident happened around 9 p.m. at Tecumseh Road and Arthur Road.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police believe speed was a factor in the collision, and charges are pending against the motorcyclist. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision.

Drunk Driving Accident

Another motorist is facing charges for impaired driving after a serious collision near the WFCU Centre on Sunday, Nov. 19 left several injured.

The accident happened in the area of McHugh Street and Mickey Renaud Way on the way into to the sports centre. The two vehicles involved, a Buick Rainer and a Honda Civic, suffered extensive damage, and the four individuals in the vehicles were all transported to the hospital.

According to police, the passenger in the Buick suffered life threatening injuries, and one person in the Civic suffered serious injuries while the other suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Buick was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being placed under arrest for impaired driving. When speaking with police, it became clear that the driver was impaired from previous consumption of alcohol. He is being charged with two counts of impaired driving and having blood alcohol exceeding 80 milligrams causing bodily harm.
