Dangerous Roadway
Monday’s accident was the latest in a string of deadly accidents along Highway 3 this year that have sparked outrage from residents and local officials.
Just one month ago on Sept. 13, a head-on collision involving an SUV and a truck carrying hazardous material shut down the highway for several hours.
That same week, the victim of another September accident on Highway 3 died from injuries sustained in another head-on collision.
The narrow and highly traveled stretch of highway has been the site of countless serious accidents in recent years. After each accident, locals renew calls for an expansion of the highway.
