Two people were rushed to the hospital with minor injuries after an accident on Highway 3 in Leamington on Monday afternoon.
According to police, the accident involved a collision between a passenger vehicle and a dump truck and it occurred at 2:30 p.m. between County roads 34 and 31.
Both drivers of the two vehicles were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The westbound lanes of the highway were closed for one hour, but the eastbound lanes were closed for several hours while the dump truck was towed from the scene.
The cause of the accident remains unknown as the investigation continues.
Monday’s accident was the latest in a string of deadly accidents along Highway 3 this year that have sparked outrage from residents and local officials.
Just one month ago on Sept. 13, a head-on collision involving an SUV and a truck carrying hazardous material shut down the highway for several hours.
That same week, the victim of another September accident on Highway 3 died from injuries sustained in another head-on collision.
The narrow and highly traveled stretch of highway has been the site of countless serious accidents in recent years. After each accident, locals renew calls for an expansion of the highway.
