Huron County Provincial Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run crash involving a teen cyclist Wednesday night.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8p.m. on Highway 21 north of Airport Road, north of Goderich. Upon arrival to the crash scene, officers found a 14-year-old teen who had been hit by a car. The vehicle reportedly was headed north on Bluewater Highway. According to a police officer at the scene, the driver fled the scene after hitting the teen, driving away at “a high rate of speed northbound.”

The teen was taken to hospital for treatment, sustaining what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

While investigating the crash scene, police discovered a dark grey passenger side mirror that they believe comes from a 2011-2012 vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
