Motorcyclist Killed in LaSalle Collision on Howard Avenue

motorcycle vs car crash on howard avenueEarly Tuesday morning, a head-on collision in LaSalle claimed the life of a motorcyclist. The two-vehicle crash involved the motorcycle and another motor vehicle, identified as a white Chrysler PT Cruiser.

According to the Windsor Star, Emergency crew responded to reports of the incident, which occurred on Howard Avenue, at approximately 6:20 a.m. The area of the crash scene is a two-lane roadway located between Huron Church Line Road and County Road 8. The posted speed limit on that road is 80 km/h.

The collision between the Chrysler and motorcycle resulted in fatal injuries to the rider. The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released pending notification to the rider’s next of kin.

OPP and Crash Reconstruction Specialist Investigate

The roadway remained closed to traffic, in both directions, for nearly seven hours after the crash. Both the OPP and a crash reconstruction specialist investigated the scene before the road could be cleared.

All traffic lanes were reopened to the public just after 1 p.m.

OPP Continues to Urge Motorists to Drive With Greater Caution

This most recent motorcycle fatality comes just a month after a single-vehicle accident on E.C. Row Expressway in Windsor claimed the life of another rider.

This year has already seen a higher number of motorcyclist deaths than in previous years. West Region OPP are greatly concerned and continue to urge the public to take greater caution on Ontario roadways. Provincial police say that as of July 28, there had already been 12 motorcyclist deaths in southwestern Ontario.
