Whiteout conditions have contributed to a serious, five vehicle accident on County Road 42 on Saturday morning, that resulted in six occupants being sent to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to a report issued by Windsor Police, the collision occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m and was so severe that one of the occupants had to be cut from a vehicle by first responders. Police also added that they were directing traffic south onto Concession Road 9, after the roadway was closed due to a combination of the accident and also the blustery driving conditions.
While commenting on the conditions, Police Sgt Jason Bellaire was briefly quoted as saying:
“It was blinding white…”
While a number of other collisions in the region were reported during the difficult driving conditions – which included heavy snow and 50 km/h wind gusts – Sgt. Bellaire also advised that County Road 42 would remain closed until improved weather conditions permitted it’s re-opening.
At the law offices of Greg Monforton & Partners, our Windsor injury lawyers urge all drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads during this winter season and to ensure that all of your vehicle is in a safe and well maintained condition. Worn tires, shock absorbers and brakes can all result in longer stopping times, which can present a problem when an emergency stop is required.
If you or someone that you love has been involved in an accident that was caused by another motorist, it’s important to have accurate legal advice to help explain your legal options. In many instances, accident victims will be contacted by insurance representatives in an effort to have the victim sign waivers to prevent the at-fault driver from being liable for the accident.
Our team of highly trained lawyers have DETAILED knowledge of Ontario’s traffic laws and can help advise and protect you from insurance representatives and others that do not have your best interests at heart.
