One Dead Following Late-Night Crash in the Lakeshore Area

ambulance leaving crash sceneThe driver of an SUV was killed in a collision that happened late Wednesday night at the intersection of County Road 25 and County Road 46 in the Lakeshore area.

The SUV was involved in a crash with a pickup truck just before 11:45 p.m. The SUV was going south on County Road 25 and the driver did not stop at the intersection with County Road 46. County Road 25 is also known as Puce Road or Lakeshore Road 209.

The pickup truck was heading east on County Road 46 when it crashed into the SUV. The SUV went off the road after the impact.

The SUV driver was taken to a hospital by Essex-Windsor EMS. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the driver was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said both roads had been reopened after an investigation of the scene.

There is one streetlight for this intersection and stop signs for Lakeshore Road 209.

Sadly, at least six people have been killed in the last month in crashes on roads under the jurisdiction of Essex County OPP.
