There was gridlock for miles this morning on the EC Row Expressway following an early morning car accident. From a liability standpoint, highway accidents are amongst the most difficult cases to handle. Highway Collision Details
Heres what we know so far from officials:
- Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 9 a.m.
- The accident reportedly involved a car and a truck
- Central Avenue at E.C. Row was closed for several hours
- Windsor firefighters were on the scene for hours
- Crews worked to clean up fuel and oil from the roadway for hours
The accident was caught on traffic cameras and all vehicles involved were heavily damaged, in some cases unrecognizable. One person was reportedly transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Due to the accident, the westbound on ramp from the Expressway was blocked during the crash. Officials had to reroute traffic around the area. The north and southbound lanes of Central were reportedly reopened a couple of hours later.
Investigators say the cause remains under investigation. There is unconfirmed speculation that speed may have played a factor in the serious accident, but again, at this point authorities have not confirmed either way.
