UPDATE – 01/12/15: The OPP have released the name of the deceased, citing that it was 55 year old Leamington resident, Mr. Robert Wallingford.
Officials from the Ontario Provincial Police have recently provided information on a fatal pedestrian vs. car accident that took place in Leamington over the weekend.
According to sources, an as-yet-un-named 18 year old motorist has been arrested and is facing impaired driving charges after striking a 54 year old pedestrian on Fox Street in Leamington at approximately 8 p.m on Sunday evening.
First responders and local Police closed the intersection of Fox and Askew streets until the early morning hours while the scene was investigated, with Police not releasing the names of those involved at this stage.

Locals that heard the collision rushed to the scene, with a number believing that someone had been shot.
Maria Banman, a neighbour of the deceased commented:
“I hear it. I look out the window and I said to my husband, They shoot somebody, on the street or somewhere,”
The injury victim was rushed to a local hospital but later succumbed to the injuries that he sustained in the accident.
The investigation continues.
