CALL 24/7A fiery crash on Tecumseh Road East involving two vehicles sent six people to hospital Saturday night, one with critical injuries.
Windsor police received a call reporting the crash shortly before 8:30 p.m. this past Saturday. The collision occurred on Tecumseh Road East near the intersection of McDougall Street. When they arrived at the scene, first responders saw there were two vehicles on fire. One vehicle, an SUV, had five occupants, including the driver. The other vehicle was a pickup truck with a single occupant.
AM800 reported that following their investigation, police determined that the driver of the pickup truck was travelling westbound on Tecumseh Road when it struck a sedan. The pickup truck then veered into eastbound traffic, colliding with the SUV.
Charges have been laid against the driver for two counts of dangerous driving resulting in bodily harm and for leaving the scene of the accident — the driver failed to stop after hitting the sedan.
All five occupants in the SUV sustained serious injuries. The SUV’s driver’s injuries are reportedly life-threatening. The 34-year-old man driving the pickup truck was also seriously injured. The driver of the sedan was assessed at the scene but did not need medical treatment.
