An ATV crash involving three youths occurred Thursday night on a private property in Chatham-Kent. Police were called to the scene at approximately 8:11 that evening.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found three youths, including an unresponsive 12-year-old boy, and immediately began life-saving efforts. The boy, who was called Decker, was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and then airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre’s Victoria campus. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Chatham Voice said Decker was beloved by many. His grandmother, Jackie Van Erd Beatty shared on social media that his family is “shattered” by his passing, calling him “humble and kind” … their “bright light.”
The Sarnia Sting AAA Hockey Club also paid tribute to Decker, saying he was, “A great hockey player, and wonderful person gone far too soon. But never forgotten.”
At Greg Monforton & Partners, we offer our sincere condolences to the family. Such a tragic loss cannot be expressed in mere words.
