Toyota May Be Forced To Issue Recall Over Seat Fabric

In a statement released by Toyota company spokesman Naoki Sumino, a number of Toyota vehicles may be effected under a possible recall, due to seat fabric that may not pass flammability standards.

The automotive giant is currently in talks with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the recall, which if effected, will be issued in both Canada and the United States.

While the Japan based manufacturer has already halted sales of new vehicles that are equipped with the seat fabric in question, the list of affected models currently include:

  • Camry and Camry Hybrid
  • Tundra and Tacoma trucks
  • Sierra minivan
  • Corolla
  • Avalon and Avalon Hybrid

Mr Sumino stated that he was unaware of the total number of vehicles affected, nor if the NHTSA would decide on the recall.
