Essex County OPP are seeking witnesses after a serious two-vehicle accident in Tecumseh on Saturday afternoon.
Provincial police, Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service and Essex-Windsor EMS responded to the scene in the westbound lanes of Highway 3 west of Walker Road at around 2:45 p.m.
A black four-door vehicle was stopped in a traffic lane for an unknown reason when minutes later, a maroon minivan rear-ended the vehicle at a high rate of speed.
Police say that another vehicle stopped next to the black vehicle and someone had a quick conversation with the driver before the crash happened. The OPP is hoping to locate the driver of that vehicle to see if he or she can provide additional details pertinent to the investigation.
A total of nine people were involved, two people in the stopped vehicle and seven others in the minivan. The accident resulted in multiple injuries ranging from minor to non-life threatening.
The OPP is urging anyone with information about the crash to please contact them at 519-723-2491. You can also reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
