Canada Road Safety Week lasted six days and ended on Monday, with Ontario Provincial Police laying 9,392 charges, including 8,020 for speeding.
OPP also responded to 935 crashes on the roads they patrolled and laid 138 charges for stunt driving, 216 for impaired driving, and 177 for distracted driving.
Drivers and passengers were also issued a total of 632 tickets for not wearing a seatbelt.
According to OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique, the traffic charges and other results of this campaign show OPP officers are firmly committed to keeping roads safe.
