One person has died and another was injured after a serious crash in Lakeshore Wednesday evening, BlackburnNews.com reports.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other emergency personnel were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of County Road 42 and Renaud Line at around 7:15 p.m.
The driver and passenger from one of the vehicles were rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the passenger succumbed to their injuries a short while later. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation.
The other driver, a 55-year-old Lakeshore resident, has been arrested and officially charged with impaired driving and the dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. A bail hearing is set for Friday.
County Road 42 was shut down for some time between Rourke Line Road and Puce Road. Renaud was also closed between Walls Road and the Atlas Tube Centre entrance. The roads reopened by 6 a.m.
OPP is asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call 1-888-310-1122. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
