Motorist Killed and Another Hospitalized After Highway 401 Crash

motorist killed in crash on highway 401 near tilburyOne person is dead and another hospitalized after a serious crash on Monday morning in the small community of Tilbury, just southwest of Chatham-Kent.

According to BlackburnNews.com, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the accident scene where two vehicles travelling eastbound collided on Highway 401 at County Road 42 around 11 a.m. Police say one of the vehicles veered off the road and came to a stop in the south ditch.

The driver of the first vehicle was fatally injured and another person was taken to the local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at County Road 42 were closed for multiple hours to investigate the accident scene. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown at this time.
