On Thursday just after 8 p.m., Windsor Police responded to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Reginald Street and George Avenue. The accident involved a Chrysler sedan and a Cadillac.
On the way to the scene, the officers were notified that the man behind the wheel of the Cadillac had exited his vehicle and was attempting to flee on foot to the north.
The officers went to the scene to determine what happened. They saw one vehicle on the front lawn of a residence and another on the curb about 50 feet away from the intersection.
The female driving the Chrysler sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The Accident Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Identification Branch closed the intersection for several hours to investigate. The intersection was open again early Friday morning.
Windsor Police conducted an investigation to locate the driver of the Cadillac who fled. They were able to locate and arrest the man at 2:30 a.m. on Friday on St. Louis Avenue.
This individual is facing the following charges:
- Dangerous driving causing bodily harm
- Failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm
The man was released from custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
