Latest Canadian Product Recalls

During the month of October alone, there have been over a dozen recalls on items throughout Canada. These products were recalled due to something not working correctly, or that could cause harm to an individual if they have been consumed. Therefore, as responsible members of our community, our defective product solicitors have decided to create a list of recent recalls and alerts in order to inform our community of such dangers.

Some of these recalls and alerts include:

SETRA

Transport Canada issued a recall on the SETRA S 407 CC, S417, and S417TC models of batteries which are used on most coach busses. These coach busses are equipped with Sure Power battery equalizers or converters which may develop an internal short circuit, thus resulting in overheating, smoke or cause fires.

HeathCo

Health Canada has issued a recall on HeathCos Heath/Zenith and Portfolio Brand Motion Activated Outdoor Lights. The recall results from the internal fixture wiring which can energize the entire surface and fitting of the fixture and cause an electrical shock hazard. There were nearly 13,000 unites recalled that were sold in Canada.

Formula Brands Inc.

Health Canada has issued a recall on Formula Brands Inc.s Betty Crocker Cordless Electric Jug Kettle. A post production evaluation of the product by the manufacturer has determined that the affected kettles can have defective steam switches which do not meet the Canadian Standards for electrical product safety. There were nearly 314 affected units sold in Canada.

Tritap Food Brokers

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall on Tritap Food Brokers Tiffany brand Strawberry Banana Sandwich Cookies due to undeclared milk. Those who are allergic to milk should not consume this product as it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

Resers Fine Food Inc.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall on certain salad products from Resers Fine Foods which may contain Listeria monocytogenes.

Clic International Inc.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall on Clic International Inc.s Clic brand strawberry flavored marshmallows in regards to undeclared milk. Consumption of this product could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction if a person has milk allergies.

Verger Belliveau Orchard

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall on certain Verger Belliveau Orchard brad ciders as they may contain patulin.

Agropur

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a preventive recall on Quebon Milk from the Montreal Plant (Code AGRT 2889) Dated November 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 2013 as they do not meet Agropurs quality standards. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product to this point.

ITFC Importers & Distributors

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall on certain Asian Chocolate brand Golbon Hazelnut in regards to undeclared gluten.

The Government of Canada has listed a number of other recalls on their website Healthy Canadians, for those interested in discovering the latest recalled products.
