We are pleased to announce that co-founding partner Greg Monforton will be presenting at the 2026 Osgoode Certificate in Motor Vehicle Accident Law and Practice on February 2.
What Is the Osgoode Certificate in Motor Vehicle Accident Law and Practice — and Why It Matters
The Osgoode Certificate in Motor Vehicle Accident Law and Practice is an intensive, practice-focused professional development program that provides lawyers with comprehensive training in both tort and accident benefits law.
Designed for new lawyers, practitioners transitioning into personal injury work, and insurance professionals, this certificate program delivers the core rules and practical tools needed to handle MVA cases effectively in Ontario.
The curriculum covers Ontario’s legislative framework, including the Insurance Act, the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule, and LAT Common Rules. Sessions address substantive legal issues like causation and damages, while also providing hands-on training in client assessment, case theory development, discovery techniques, and litigation strategy.
What sets this program apart is its emphasis on practical application. Rather focusing on theory, participants gain actionable insights for managing files from initial assessment through to resolution, from both plaintiff and defence perspectives.
Program Structure and Details
The 2026 certificate consists of five modules delivered live online on January 14, January 21, January 28, February 2, and February 24. Participants who attend all sessions and complete the online assessment by May 29, 2026 will earn their certificate. Registration includes 120 days of unlimited access to recorded sessions.
The program is chaired by Maia L. Bent of Lerners LLP and Alexander M. Voudouris of Pace Law Firm, with faculty including experienced practitioners and judicial officers.
Greg Monforton’s Session: Openings and Closings
On February 2, at 1:00 p.m., Greg will lead a session on “Openings and Closings” that focuses on advocacy skills and how they can significantly shape trial outcomes. His presentation will provide practical guidance on crafting compelling opening statements and persuasive closing arguments in motor vehicle accident litigation.
This session is part of Day 4’s comprehensive agenda, which also covers common motions, mediation, pretrial procedures, trial preparation, examination techniques, appeals, and professional responsibility.
