Joanna is a managing partner at Greg Monforton and Partners since 2023, having joined there as an associate lawyer in 2013. Her practice focuses on representing people who have been injured in car crashes, slip and falls, and dog bites. She also represents her clients in their accident benefits, long term disability, and Canada Pension Plan – Disability claims. She never represents insurance companies.
Joanna grew up in Essex County. She graduated with her law degree from the University of Windsor in 2005 and earned a doctorate in political science from Carleton University in 2012. She has published articles in The Litigator (the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association’s flagship publication) and papers on political theory and Canadian politics in various academic journals. She has taught as a sessional instructor in the University of Windsor’s political science department and has taught Constitutional Law at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. She currently teaches Auto Insurance at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law.
Since 2021, Joanna has served on the board of directors of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) where she has been involved in numerous submissions to the Ontario Government on behalf of injured victims. She is passionate about safeguarding the rights of injured people through political advocacy. In 2023 Joanna joined the Executive of the OTLA board of directors, and was recently elected to serve as the President of OTLA for the 2027-2028 term. Joanna currently serves as President-Elect and she chairs the Practice Direction committee.
Joanna is also a co-chair of the Essex Law Association Bench and Bar Committee. She is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and Women United – the United Way, Windsor-Essex.
