A three-year-old died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Windsor on Monday.
According to police, the incident happened around 8:40 p.m. on Wyandotte Street West near Bruce Avenue. Witnesses told police that a van traveling east struck the toddler and then fled the scene.
The child was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
On Tuesday, police located the full-size van described as dark green in color with a beige stripe down the side and a ladder attached to the rear.
The 56-year-old man who was the owner and driver of the van was arrested and charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death and criminal negligence causing death. Video surveillance and a police investigation disproved the owner’s account of where the van had been the day of the accident.

Another teen was sent to the hospital in critical condition on June 5 after being hit by a minivan in South Windsor. The teen driver of the van was later charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
