On Tuesday, a 40-year-old man died in an industrial accident in the Herb Gray Parkway construction zone and another was injured just hours later.
The 40-year-old was crushed between two objects near Todd Lane and Cousineau Road. Two other workers were helped to an ambulance and another put on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident and has issued the employer four orders to ensure that temporary structures are adequately braced, employees are provided with instruction, training and supervision for installation and removal of steel concrete forms and the requirement of producing a list of workers, safe work procedures and other technical documents.
An hour after the death, another worker was critically injured near Huron Church Road and LaBelle Street. The worker was cutting cement and sustained a serious leg injury, he was taken to the hospital.
