Greg is a well-known trial lawyer. His publication and lecture credentials highlight
his extensive experience in the courtroom. He heads the Personal Injury Group
of our firm and its team of trial lawyers.
Greg has distinguished himself in his career and has been recognized by his peers:
- He is certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada
(fewer than 2% of all Ontario lawyers have this important designation)
- Greg is a past President of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA).
His work with OTLA has centered largely on spearheading the drive to reform Ontario’s automobile insurance laws; this
including authoring numerous submissions on the subject and meeting with various Ministries
of the Ontario Government.
- Greg is listed in the 2009 LEXPERT® Directory as a leading practitioner in the
area of Personal Injury Law. The directory notes that Greg is "repeatedly recommended"
by other leading personal injury lawyers.
- Greg's peers have selected him to be included in the 2009 edition of BestLawyers® in
Canada.
Greg restricts his practice to representing persons who have lost their lives or suffered
serious personal injuries due to the negligence of others. Typically his clients have
been victims of car crashes, medical malpractice, unsafe premises, unsafe medical devices
or unsafe pharmaceutical products.
Greg was also counsel for a number of victims of the Nationair DC-8 airline crash at
King Abel-Aziz International Airport in Jidda, Saudia Arabia.
Greg was called to the Bar in 1981 following graduation from the University of Windsor
Law School and was a founding partner of the firm now known as Greg Monforton & Partners.
He is also a member of the Advocates Society and the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of
America (ATLA)), recently making a presentation to ATLA’s general membership at
its 2005 Annual Convention held in Toronto, Ontario.
Greg is also a former President of the Head Injury Association (Windsor-Essex County)
and formerly the author of a weekly newspaper column “You and the Law” which
