Tuesday afternoon a cyclist riding east on College Avenue was struck by a white transport truck. The truck headed northbound on Huron Church Road failed to stop at a red light causing the cyclist to strike the trucks rear tire which flung him to the ground. The cyclist is being treated for a minor arm injury.
In Ontario, between 2008 and 2009, the number of fatal bicycle accidents increased, the majority of which occurred during the daylight hours. Furthermore approximately 27% of fatal truck accidents involved a truck driver who was not driving properly.
Police are still looking for the truck involved in the collision.
