A 19-year-old man is clinging to life in a London hospital after a crash in Chatham that police allege was related to drunk driving.
The victim was one of six people packed into a car with room for only four, police said.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, the driver lost control on Michener Road, hitting a street light and a hydro box, before flipping and coming to rest on the road. The 19-year-old was ejected. He was flown by air ambulance to hospital in London.
Another 19-year-old man broke his arm and a 20-year-old woman suffered a broken collarbone.
The other three people, including the 21-year-old driver, were treated for minor injuries.
The driver faces 11 charges, including impaired driving, dangerous driving and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
The street remained closed until last night, so hydro crews could repair equipment that was damaged in the crash.
Chatham-Kent Police are looking for more witnesses.
