Three Injured in Three-Vehicle Highway 401 Crash

Windsor police lightsThree people were transported to the hospital early Monday evening after a three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Lakeshore just east of Windsor.

Emergency crews responded to the accident located in the westbound lanes of the highway east of the Rochester Townline around 4:30 p.m. The accident involved a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck and a small car.

According to reports, the car was found under the trailer of the truck and the pickup came to a stop on its side, wedged between the trailer and a concrete median.

The woman who was driving the car was transported to the hospital with serious injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. Two men who were driving the tractor trailer and the pickup truck were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

All three westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for several hours at Highway 77 and Comber Sideroad as police investigated the accident and removed the vehicles.

The cause of the accident remains unknown.
