A female driver was transported to hospital after a three-car collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401.

The Ontario Provincial Police responded to the collision on the overpass at Provincial Road after 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to OPP Provincial Constable Stephanie Moniz, a red Ford vehicle entered the westbound on-ramp of Highway 401 at Provincial Road and while doing so, was struck by a tractor trailer, which then swerved and struck a Honda minivan.

The female driver of the Ford was taken to Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus by Emergency Medical Services after being extracted from the vehicle. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and no one else was injured in the crash.

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Provincial Road remain open until the investigation is complete and debris removed from the roadway.

The investigation is ongoing.
